The Rose & Crown Ridgmont
Past events
Here at The Rose and Crown we enjoy organising fun events for everyone in the village when the opportunity arises. Throughout the year we’ve had Easter egg hunts, egg rolling and Easter Bonnet competitions; a May Day family fun day with Maypole dancing, ten pin bowling and giant games including Jenga, chess, snakes and ladders; traditional tug-of-war and yard of ale contests, all with prizes for children and adults.
For St George’s Day we held a 1940’s themed fancy dress party where guests could sing along to war times tunes, then for dinner we served corned beef hash and sausage and mash supper.
At Whitsun Bank Holiday the games came indoors due to stormy weather but we didn’t let the rain dampen our spirits. A fabulous jazz performance by Jim Douglas, former Jazz Musician of the year and member of the Scottish group The Clyde Valley Stompers, made this a night to remember.
Our weekly Quiz night raffle tickets help us to raise funds for Christmas, then when the children from the village come meet Father Christmas in his grotto it’s amazing how much he knows about them and exactly which presents they really want!
We celebrated New Year’s Eve dressed up to the nines in black tie and posh frocks with a disco and buffet dinner.
